Common questions
My alarm didn't ring
Check, in this order:
- Notifications are allowed for Timer Up in your phone's settings (the Alarms tab shows a warning if they are off).
- Android: in Timer Up's Settings, lift the battery restriction.
- The alarm is switched on and its time is in the future.
- Your phone isn't in Do Not Disturb with alarms silenced.
Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO phone: alarms stop or don't appear full-screen
These phones need two extra permissions. Open Timer Up → Settings → “Xiaomi/MIUI: extra steps needed”:
- Turn on Autostart.
- Turn on Show on Lock screen and Open new windows while running in the background.
Without them the system can cancel alarms when you swipe the app away.
On iPhone the alarm doesn't take over the lock screen
Apple doesn't allow third-party apps to draw over the lock screen, so on iOS an alarm rings and shows a standard notification banner. This is an iOS limitation, not a bug. Keep notification sounds on and don't mute the phone for alarms you rely on.
Why can't a step be shorter than 15 seconds?
Steps shorter than 15 s arrive so close together that the system can swallow some of their vibrations and sounds. 15 s is the shortest length that stays reliable.
Why is steps × rounds limited to 40?
Every step change is a scheduled notification, and phones limit how many a single app can keep pending (iOS keeps about 64, shared with alarms).
Does Timer Up need internet or an account?
No. It works fully offline and stores everything on your device. See the privacy policy.
How do I delete my data?
Uninstall the app: all its data is removed. You can also delete individual Sets and alarms inside the app.
Will my Sets be lost if I change phones?
Data lives only on the device (nothing is uploaded), so it doesn't transfer automatically. You can recreate Sets quickly from the Templates gallery.
